Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Naval forces in the Middle East, established Task Force 59 to rapidly integrate commercially-made drone boats and pair them with artificial intelligence.

Over the past year, the task force has helped him get a clearer picture of what’s happening on the water, and now, the Navy says it is rolling out similar efforts in the Indo-Pacific and Central and South America.

I sat down for an exclusive interview with Admiral Cooper during the 5th Fleet’s Digital Horizon exercise in Bahrain to talk about how cutting-edge technologies like AI, drone boats and more are helping the military see from “seabed to space.”
